Principal's Desk

Dr. Vidyagauri Lele,

Principal & HOD (Chemistry Dept.)

It has been a year of change for the college at faculty level. Principal Dr. Muley after his long tenure of 11 years in college, retired at the end December 2014. I took over as In-charge Principal in the beginning of 2015.

In February, Vice Principal and Head, Department of Commerce, Prof. Shete and in March Prof Anita Kumar, Head, Department of Psychology retired after serving the college and the student community for more than 3 decades. The bond of attachment between retired teachers and the college will remain evergreen.

To cope up with the natural growth of the college, the management has undertaken massive infrastructural development work. The “Bhoomipoojan” ceremony of the six storey building was held on 21st April 2015. Wi-Fi facility for teachers and students is one of the proactive steps taken by the management, to keep up with the needs of users in the tech-savvy world of today. The vertical growth in the form of courses from 11th to Ph. D. and horizontal growth in terms of the number of students reaching a magical figure of 7000, has been possible due to the strong and active support of the management.

Research culture is growing in our College, as is evident from the Ph.D. teachers in each department and the number of doctoral research registrations by teachers. Organising National level seminars and undertaking research projects has become a regular feature in college. Seminar hall is always booked for a variety of co-curricular and extra-curricular activities of various associations, aiming at student’s overall development.

Student’s being the main stake holders, their feedback and suggestions are the guiding source for policy decisions of college.

Credit based semester and grading system keeps the examination section on its toes round the year. The aim of the UGC while designing this system was to improve the quality and effectiveness of higher education in our country, through the continuous evaluation of students. Effective implementation of any policy is possible, especially in the field of education, through discipline.

Our students are, most of the time, the first member to graduate in their families. They are going to bring a radical change in their families and in their own life, through education. There is a need for students to aim high, be responsible towards their performance and to achieve their goals through discipline.

Many of our students have learnt in vernacular medium till SSC. They shall accept the importance of English language, learn it and practice it to the extent that it becomes the medium of thinking.

We, the teachers of a higher education institute, bestowed with the noble profession of teaching, have the responsibility to shape the younger generation into sincere, patriotic and cultured citizens of India.

I look forward to achieving these goals through dedication of teachers, support of management and discipline amongst students in the ensuing academic year of 2015-16.
